An exquisite antique, solid silver Vesta case, in rectangular form. Beautifully engraved with swirling patterns to both the front and the back. The front bears a vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes perfectly. The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1919 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark : John Rose. There is a good fastening loop to one side.
This vesta is lovely to hold in the hand, nice and solid and a good heavy gauge silver.
