A captivating small silver peppermint pot / snuff box of Dutch origin. The craftmanship of the silversmith is clearly visible in the style of the pot, including wonderful repousse work and engraving. In the form of a Pail, this pot has a ornate hinged lid that opens and closes perfectly well. The body of the pot has two rope style handles either side and underneath are the Dutch marks for 833 grade silver. There is also a Letter 'F' on the lip that sits underneath the lid which denotes the date for 1840.
When opened the golden gilt interior is visible and adds to the gorgeous appearance.
A very lovely and unusual Pot in superior antique condition. No dents, marks or repairs to the silver.
