A lovely heavy gauge silver Butter Knife. This early Victorian knife is very nicely engraved with a delicate pattern to the front of the blade and handle with a small initial 'S' to the top of the handle. The back is fully and clearly hallmarked for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1840, Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver and the silversmith's mark: G R Collis & Co.
