What can only be described as a superbly designed glass and silver Inkwell.  This unusual inkwell is designed in a hefty crystal glass square with the well included in the body of the piece and not a separate item.  The top has a silver collar with a hinged lid.  The collar is fully hallmarked for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1913 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, also with the maker's mark for John Grinsell & Sons.  This lid is decorated with a stunning horses head, beautifully executed. (Partial hallmarks are also visible on the inside of the lid.)

A fabulous inkwell.

Condition:  The inkwell is in lovely overall condition.  There are some very minor tiny chips to the corners of the base which we mention for accuracy only.
