An beautifully engraved , solid silver Vesta case, unusually oblong in shape. Beautifully engraved with swirling leafy patterns to both the front and the back, the front bears an empty shield shaped cartouch. Hinged on one side the lid opens and closes to reveal clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1925 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark: John Rose. There is a good fastening loop to one side.
Condition: This vesta is lovely to hold in the hand, being nicely shaped. It is in lovely condition however, when the lid closes it does not snap shut firmly until it is given a tiny push.
