A very handsome Georgian solid silver early Propelling Pencil. This heavy gauge silver pencil has a neat engine turned pattern to the body of the silver with a nicely patterned silver band around the centre which acts as a slider. There is also a dragon engraved seal on the top, to use with wax to seal letters and documents. Full hallmarks are visible on one side for London 1824.
A wonderful early item; used long before lead refills were invented, contains an actual pencil rather than lead refill, which slides in and out.
Condition: In great condition, especially considering the age and use. (There is a very tiny split to the rim where the pencil slides out, commensurate with the age and mentioned for accuracy only)
