A large Victorian silver heart shaped vesta case formed as a smooth rounded heart in a smooth polished design which sits nicely in the hand. The top of the heart hinges upwards providing a receptacle for matches. There is a ridged match strike to one side and a chain loop from which to hang the vesta. It is a lovely tactile piece of silver which sits nicely in the hand.
This heart vesta is a particularly large example, and will be a desirable piece for many vesta collectors.
Condition: in lovely antique condition, just one or two light scuffs to one side, not obvious and mentioned only for accuracy. The hinge is good and closed with a firm snap.
Hallmarked as sterling silver by the Birmingham Assay Office with the makers mark for Abrahall and Bint and the date code for 1876.
