A very rare and highly collectable 9ct gold antique retractable combination pencil and dip pen by the renowned maker Sampson Mordan & Co. Samspon Mordan was the inventor of the first patented mechanical pencil. The pen is a work of art and the 9ct gold case slides back to reveal the pen nib and pencil combo, each of which has a slider so either one, pen or pencil can be pushed forward to use. The mark for S Mordan and Co, 9ct, is clearly visible on the inner case. There is a loop at the top of the case (could be hung from a chain).
A wonderful item, of great interest to a collector and in great condition - a little piece of history!
