Costume jewellery was originally designed to have the look and style of fine jewellery, but without the price. The precious stones and metals of fine jewellery were replaced with coloured glass, known as paste and base metals, such as iron, nickel, tin and rhodium, were plated to give the effect of silver and gold. Latterly plastics like celluloid and bakelite were also used in the construction of pieces. In recent years, the growing popularity of the vintage movement has lead to a reappraisal of costume jewellery, and with it, rising values, as people appreciate the design skill and style used in the manufacture of the pieces. Costume jewellery is a perfect way of expressing your style or adding a burst of colour or spakle to an outfit. Our online store and the collect in store sections have just a small selection of some of the pieces that we currently have for sale.
