A superb George IV early solid silver jug ornamented with the most wonderful embossed decoration, including roses, flowers leaves and scrolls. There is a lightly engraved heraldic eagle passant on one side. The resplendent decoration aligns with the splendid shape - every part of the jug from the leaf rim design to the shape and decoration of the handle to the gorgeously embossed feet, illustrates the sheer craftmanship of the silversmith.
Hallmarks are visible just underneath the spout for the London Assay office dated 1821, along with the Lion Passant and the silver maker's mark (this mark is slightly rubbed, however looks like William Hewitt).
The jug is a good heavy gauge of silver and is in super condition.
