A beautiful Victorian silver card case in the unusual form of a book. The engraving is stunning both front and back (see images) with a circular empty cartouche in the centre of the front. There is a spring loaded push button on one side that opens the top of the case.
Hallmarks are visible on the back of the case for the Birmingham Assay office (the date mark is rubbed) with the maker's mark for the renowned silversmith George Unite. There are partial marks visible on the inside of the lid.
An unusual design and in lovely antique collector's condition.
