A very stylish, iconic Art Deco solid silver cigarette case in a lovely convex shape.  Decorated with a column of engine turned patterns with a small cartouche in one corner with engraved initials 'AV' .  There are two push buttons on one side to enable opening of the case.  When opened a lovely gilt finish is revealed and further engraving  of initials 'M.E.M 1908 - 1929'.  The hallmarks are also clearly visible for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1928 and silver maker's mark:  J B Chatterley & Sons Ltd.

A particularly elegant case in lovely condition.  The interior elastic straps for holding cigarettes in place are missing.
