What can only be described as a superb solid silver, twin handled Sugar Bowl. The proportions are wonderfully large (Height: 10.4 cm Width: 19 cm) and the style is distinctly Victorian. The bowl is beautifully engraved with an attractive border around the upper half. In the centre on both sides is an engraved laurel leaf cartouche with an initial 'S'. Hallmarks are visible on one side for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1893 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver (the maker's mark is slightly rubbed.)
A wonderful, heavy gauge Sugar Bowl, not only practical also a sublime decorative item of silver.
Would make an impressive gift and adorn a tea service beautifully.
