A superb, Victorian, large and very heavy gauge silver spoon. The quality of this spoon is outstanding; the spoon terminal is exceptionally deep, measuring 3.9 mm.
This spoon was issued in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee, issued by the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers and has clear and crisp hallmarks on the back of the spoon terminal for the Sheffield Assay office with a date mark for 1897 and maker's mark for the renowned silvermaker's Mappin & Webb.
The spoon is beautifully decorated and in superb condition. A very special item!
