A most attractive and very fine Victorian Inkwell.   A lovely heavy cut glass ink bottle sits neatly and securely in a circular silver stand.  The lid of the bottle comprises a handsome silver collar and is hinged. The underside of the stand is covered in a lovely blue felt baize material.

Clear hallmarks are visible around the rim of the stand for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1900 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The maker's mark is also visible:  E J Houlston (also with partial marks on the underside of the lid).

Nicely sized, and the great condition, this Inkwell would grace  a desk splendidly. A fabulous gift!
