Victorian pierced silver bowl hallmarked Sheffield 1898 Joseph Rodgers & Sons.
This superbly decorated bowl or dish has a stepped low circular base with ribbed decoration. The bowl itself employs all manner of patterns and motifs to add interest. Eight rounded and concave motifs form the main decoration, like petals around the rim, and in between each 'petal' is a small daisy. A deep pierced section sits between the border and the smooth polished centre, and a pattern of oval cartouches and swags are overlaid over this open section in solid silver.
A most attractive dish with well balanced decoration which would make a superb fruit bowl or table centrepiece.
