Victorian silver trinket box hallmarked Birmingham 1897 George Nathan & Ridley Hayes
A very pretty and nicely proportioned silver trinket box, beautifully embossed to the lid with an empty cartouche in the centre and a frilled edge. The sides are also embossed sides with flowers and swirls. The hinged lid opens and closes softly rather than snapping shut. Inside is a lovely gilded finish. Hallmarks are clearly visible on the front of the box for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1897 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silver maker's mark: George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. Part marks can be seen on the inside lip of the lid.
A lovely antique box in great condition.
