A handsome Victorian solid silver vesta case in rectangular form. Nicely engraved with swirling patterns to both the front and the back. The front bears a vacant cartouche in the centre. Hinged on one side, the lid opens and closes perfectly.
The case has clear hallmarks visible on the inside lip for the Birmingham Assay Office, with a date mark for 1899 and the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver, along with the silversmith's maker's mark: WH.
This vesta is nicely shaped to hold and a good heavy gauge silver.
Condition: In great condition. There is some slight surface scratching visible on the polished cartouche area, commensurate with age and use but mentioned for accuracy.
