An absolutely superb pair of William IV solid silver Asparagus Tongs. These tongs are a good heavy gauge silver and are really sturdy. Exceptionally attractive they have superb ornate pierced decoration, with plain polished silver handles and an heraldic armorial at the top of the handle symbolising a stork on a crown. The tongs are fitted with a central support for tension enabling movement. Inside the handles are the very clear and distinctive hallmarks for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1830, along with the Lion Passant indicating fine sterling silver and the silver maker's mark for William Knight II
A wonderful pair, they would grace any dining setting beautifully!
