An unusual Edwardian antique silver heart shaped vesta case. Formed in a heart shape and in a smooth polished design which sits nicely in the hand, the top of the heart hinges upwards providing a receptacle for matches. There is a ridged match strike to one side and a chain loop from which to hang the vesta. It is a nice tactile piece of silver which sits nicely in the hand. The hinge closes with a good firm snap.
A lovely and unusual collectors item.
Hallmarked as sterling silver by the Birmingham Assay Office with the makers mark for William Aitken and date code for 1902.

Condition: There are surface scratches and some deeper marks towards the point of the heart, and some very tiny dints, all commensurate with age but mentioned for accuracy.
