Vintage Clogau 'tree of life' cross pendant marked 925.
Formed as a silver cross, the twining foliage and leaves of the 'tree of life' pattern are worked here in gold coloured relief.
Clogau founded in 1989 using Welsh gold from a local mine in their jewellery. Welsh gold is so rare that only tiny quantities are included in any one item and so generally not hallmarked as gold. Only since 2004,the Edinburgh Assay Office started testing for Welsh gold on jewellery adding a Welsh dragon to indicate its presence of this. However, this item by Clogau does not bear the Welsh dragon.
