An interesting Masonic jewel hallmarked London 1940. The jewel is made of silver with a gilt finish, and fashioned like a set square tool, with ruler measurements marked to one arm and another oblong arm at right angles decrated with a wheatsheaf design. Between the two arms is suspended a square frame around a shape like a masonic robe.
The reverse is particularly finely engraved and dedicated to a V.J. Gainsford for his services 1939-1940 to the Lodge as W M ( Worshipful Master, The President of the Lodge).
An intriguing historical and decorative item which could potentially be worn from the attached loop as a pendant.
Hallmarked as sterling silver by the London Assay Office 1940 with makers Marks for Toye & Co.
