A pretty and ornate silver trinket dish or tray. Central to the design is the smooth heart-shaped base, which, is slightly convex to enhance its shape. The gently curving sides of the dish are very highly decorated, alternating pierced panels in a criss cross pattern, with smooth motifs, all surrounded by repousse swag and flower details.
The style is luxuriant and roccoco! A lovely item to grace an antique table.
Clear hallmarks are visible on one side for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1905, Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker's mark for the renowned maker Henry Matthews.
