A superb large George IV solid silver basting or stuffing spoon. In a classic simple Georgian style, the only decoration is an heraldic griffin with an arrow which is finely engraved to the terminal of the handle and lends a regal look. This impressive spoon is a wonderful example of the elegance of Regency silver.
Hallmarks: very clear and crisp hallmarks are impressed to the reverse, with the London Assay office date mark for 1823, the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the silver maker's mark for John Harris IV.
Condition: In very good condition, with just some light surface scratching commensurate with age.
